Overview
The LitiSync Exchange allows attorneys to securely share or refer matters to colleagues within their firm or to outside partners and referral attorneys. Matters can be shared directly from the Case Load Dashboard, and access permissions can be managed or withdrawn at any time.
Before You Begin
- The matter you wish to share or refer must exist in your Case Load Dashboard.
- You must have the recipient’s email address.
- Only the original matter owner can initiate referrals or sharing actions.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open the Exchange Option
From the Case Load Dashboard, locate the matter you want to share.
Select the menu icon on the top-right of the matter tile and choose LitiSync Exchange.
2. Enter the Recipient
Enter the email address of the attorney, associate, or partner you wish to share the matter with—either within your firm or externally.
3. Send the Referral or Share
Submitting the request triggers a secure workflow that provides the selected recipient access to the matter.
If the recipient already has a LitiSync account, the matter will appear in their workspace.
If the recipient is not yet a LitiSync member, they will receive an onboarding invitation to create an account and access the referred matter.
4. Manage Referral Permissions
At any time, the original matter owner can withdraw sharing permissions, removing access to the matter if needed. Only the original matter owner can share or refer the matter to additional recipients; recipients cannot re-refer the matter to others.
What Happens Next
Once the recipient accepts the invitation, they will gain access to the matter and can begin reviewing the case information based on the permissions granted.
